Mighty Me Health expo reflection

Hey everybody,

Here is my Mighty Me Health expo reflection:

My Mighty Health expo went really well. Everybody was coming over to my ‘stall’ to do my hands on activity and/or to get a business car. But that was also bad because they only came for the hands on activity or business card.

I thought that I didn’t really do very well on presenting mainly because nobody was listening so in the end I just gave up. So there wasn’t really any point learning our info if nobody is going to listen. Next time if I was to do this again I would probably (even though I didn’t get to present), make sure that I knew my info better so that I could read it without looking.

Saving Heironymus!

Hi everybody,

2015! A new year a new class and our inquiry topic is energy. Yesterday we watched a video called Saving Heironymus which tells you about greenhouse gasses and what they are.

So greenhouse gasses, what are they?

I think I should explain what the greenhouse effect is. Say there was a glass box around he world, the suns rays shine through the glass. But the light will run out but the heat will be trapped inside the glass box, heating the earth. Carbon dioxide ‘makes the heat stronger’ so the more carbon dioxide we produce the hotter the earth will be.

Most people’s  house hold appliances run on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are things like coal and oil.

Have a great day

Amazing Race ‘Team Skills’

Hi everybody,

Today I am going to be reflecting on my group’s performance and the habits of the mind we used in the Amazing race.

This is the habits of mind and the 1 tick means that 1 group used that habit of mind

This is the habits of mind and the 1 tick means that 1 group used that habit of mind

I think that over all, my group performed really well in the amazing race. I think so because we always helped each other and we persisted and half of the races we finished (just in time). I think our most successful itinerary/leg was Sydney.

Here is the first part of my maths book were my group put our habits of the mind.

Here is the second part of my maths book were we wrote what our % were , and what our most important habit of the mind is.

Here is the second part of my maths book were we wrote what our % were , and what our most important habit of the mind is.

As a class we listed all of the habits of the mind which led onto our next task: Which was for us as a group to identify our 8 best habits of mind we used. These are the habits of mind we used: Questioning, Working interdependently, persisting, finding humour, thinking flexibly, organisation, striving for accuracy and listening with empathy and understanding. After we finished discussing what our top 8 were we all got together and collated our data. For that we all had to tick the habits of the mind we used on the whiteboard.

In our group we had to give our habit of the mind a % for how important it was for your group. For example: persisting, you might give that 25% and questioning 15%. But you have to make sure it equals 100%.

With the data we collated we had to create a pie chart. For that we had to go into excel and type in the A row, the name of the habit of the mind. And in the B row the percentage we gave it. The main criteria for the pie chart was that you had to have a chart title and labelled data. Click on the picture to make it clearer.

Here is my pie chart. It is labelled and it has a chart title.

What I learnt from the task in relation to working in a team is that you always have to be open to new ideas. You also have to listen, question and communicate with your team members otherwise nobody will know who is doing what, so you will get people doing the same task. Which means you will never get anything done.

Have a great day
